Hi, I'm Erin
Junior Front-End Developer based in Canterbury, NZ
Creative, solution-focused, and resilient. I'm transitioning from 4 years of self-employment in the beauty industry to a career in software development.
I entered the beauty industry as a means of flexible employment after years of significant health challenges. I studied at Monaco Nail Academy in 2019 and my love of learning and my can-do, solution-focused thinking was utilised to write, produce, and film additional online courses for the academy. Alongside creating courses, I educated adult students via online and in-person classes in small, face to face settings that allowed me to adapt my communication and teaching style to best suit the learning needs of each student.
In 2020, I opened my own salon as a sole-trader and managed all daily operations, marketing, bookkeeping and customer service. Due to the pandemic, I adapted business practices to meet the changing requirements while continuing to exceed clients’ expectations through personalised customer service and clear communication. As a skilled active listener, my out-the-box thinking, and practical approach resulted in a large, satisfied clientele. My success as a self-employed technician was largely based on my ability to interpret and then realise the clients’ expectations.
After 4 years of self-employment, educating within the beauty industry, a city relocation, and great health, I felt I had reached the ceiling in my business. I spent a lot of time considering and seeking professional guidance in career considerations - a career in a field that would blend well with my aptitude, skill set and character. My exacting attention to detail and love of learning lends itself to computer programming. My self-directed online study with Shecodes has proven to be exciting and challenging - with the potential to keep my solution-focused and creative instincts engaged.
